The Hicks children will be descending upon Maine at the end of August.
We did it, we pulled it together.
Mom used to live in New Harbor, ME. It's a lovely little town tucked away on the shores of the ocean. They had a beautiful house there, right on the rocky shores of the ocean. They had a little guest house out back where we could stay, our own lil house and sleep and listen to the ocean.
Mom had her beloved dog Amy in Maine. Up until her last days mom asked for Amy. They would walk and walk in the beautiful coves of New Harbor.
When mom had her stroke, she was still living in Maine. If that hadn't happened, mom would have stayed in Maine forever.
She was happiest there.
So, we're going back. We're going in August to go spread mom's ashes and have all of us together to say goodbye to that place, to say a proper goodbye to mom and to really close this particular chapter.
I'm looking forward to it, it's been over 8 years since I've been there, but it is FANTASTIC. Lobster rolls and my brothers and the memories of happy and weird times in Maine.

Hi Hixx, Glad you and your sibs are going "home". I don't know if you've ever heard of the "Blog Cabin", it's a DIY TV show and they give away a home.
