Good. Good.

Blech. Winter sure is here right? Blech. Like I said, I'm learning to be comfortable in my uncomfortableness, but geez oh pete oh pete. Blech.

Things are zooming along quite nicely over here.

One thing I forgot to add yesterday as I went writing along was that the end result of my losing my fear in the face of uncertainty, is that ...well....

John and I bought our tickets to Thailand.

There was a lot ALOT of back and forth about this decision, is it responsible, is it the right thing to do in the middle of a recession with two out of work people?

And the answer we came up with is a resounding yes. We have some thoughts about this trip that go beyond honeymoon. I think its important right now for both of us to see the huge entire world. I think its important right now to see that people lead all kinds of lives, not just the 9-5 one. It's important to see that our struggles in Chicago are a miniscule part of what is going on in the world.

And will there ever be this chance again? To steal away for a few weeks just the two of us?

Anyway, we're going. January 23. Everyone put on your thai skirts and shirts, cause John and I are going to see the tuk-tuks.

Kob kun.

Good, good, indeed, my sweet Hixx! Goodness knows where this trip will lead you--both geographically and in the life directional sense. Promise me one more double dip before you leave.

WOOOHOOOO! I am so excited for you two! I am so happy you are going--I think it is important to get out and see the world, too. Kind of get things back into perspective and maybe change your perspective, too! I am so so so thrilled for you!

w00t! Best. Choice. Ever. I still regret not using my 6 months of unemployment to travel. Plus, maybe when you get back the world will be sprouting new jobs and money trees!

Yay!!!!! I'm so happy for you guys, I'm glad you're doing this, because despite your "guilt" you both deserve this trip. Can't wait to see what you bring me from Thailand! ;-D

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the support. When we become famous thai comedians, we'll bring you all over when you're unemployed!

I've talked to two of my friends who are/have been overseas since the election.

Expect folks to jump up and down and or hug you while shouting out "OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!" once you tell them you're from Chicago.

Even the poorest of the poor in Haiti have heard the news and are estatic!

And have a great time!!
