Done...almost done

All done! The weekend of big goings on was all pretty fun and easy.

My “test” tour was nothing like what I thought it would be. There are so many of us training docents (35) that to have all of us get a chance to talk on an hour and a half boat cruise was pretty crazy. I spoke maybe all of 10 minutes, if even, and only really screwed up once trying to pronounce “Schmidt, Garden and Martin”, it’s harder than you think, especially when you’re nervous. But I made people laugh and got a kindly hand on my shoulder and a whisper of “good job, sit down” so I spent the rest of the tour watching my fellow docents be nervous too, and then get the same hand and comment. It was pretty fun, and I’m glad it was, because we all know what we have to do to really be ready and I liked that this last day was more about enjoying the tour, enjoying each other and releasing our tension.

Afterwards, even though class was supposed to go until noon, we were let go (this was at about 9:30AM), so I wondered what to do with my time until my audition? I looked over and saw one of the docents who is touted as giving one of the very best tours, waiting to give a 10:00. I have to go through the actual foundation to get tickets, so I hastily called them up to see if I could go. “No” they said, “we’re sold out until noon”. Darn, so I hung out by the boat just so I could hear his intro. Well lo and behold a kind boat lady gave me an extra ticket and I scrambled on to the boat at 10:01.

And man, they weren’t kidding. This guy was awesome. I wanted to see him in particular because everyone said he incorporates a lot of humor. He did too, verging on the point of too familiar, but my lord, did he temper his tour with so much knowledge I was blown away. He didn’t stop for one second, and he cracked everyone up during the process, it was great to see a professional, yet hilarious tour. Something to aspire to.

Afterwards I wandered around, waiting to go to my audition! I got there a bit early, the kind people let me go (I was sweltering in jeans and had been in the heat most of the day), I calmed down a bit and went for it. I think the audition went well, if not a little too fast due to my nervousness, but I was damn glad I had really prepared for it, and felt that I really did the best job I could have done.

It will be a few weeks before I find out if I’m cast, but I will be sure to let you all know!

Saturday night to celebrate we were to go to the beach, but it rained, so we went to Olive Garden instead. I know…

Yesterday I spent a lazy day with my handsome dude, we checked out Ocean’s Thirteen, which was fine. It was fine. George Clooney is hot.

I also watched Little Children which was pretty amazing, if not a little too long. But the way it showed how people talk to each other, how that influences people’s actions and then how that influences how people talk to each other was very cool. I’d like to read the book and get that full on. Also, that little guy from Breaking Away was amazing.

Is it bad that I cannot WAIT for Hell’s Kitchen? No? Awesome.

i was talking about you this weekend and bragging about your future docenting. and how you're going to rock the waters. yay!

little children, waitress and once have proven to me the day of the 'hollywood ending' are long gone. which is good and bad, depending on what kind of mood i'm in.

and i can't wait to do ocean's thirteen. i was mega disappointed in ocean's twelve, but since i've fallen for george so hard (it took me until 'o brother'), i will forgive the man nearly anything. come to me, george.

Ocean's Thirteen was definitely good enough to see some Hot George, its not fabulous, but its good enough.

Yeah, Little Children is not the happiest movie. But man, the acting was incredible!
