Early blog post today, it’s one of my “interview” days with architects, this time a construction guy actually. I’m actually a little more nervous about this one than most, because I know how to talk to an architect, but a construction guy? What am I going to ask?
“So, how was it? You know, building something?”
Anyway, I have a busy week this week, lots of interviews for work, two Chicagoist interviews going up, it’s my brother’s birthday today (AND SMUSS! HAPPY B-DAY SMUSS!) and it’s just going to be a busy week. Again, all good, but busy.
Since I’m all about balance, I decided that this past weekend should involve a lot of non-busy time. Friday night I stayed in, got pizza, and played Zelda…I’m getting really close to being done (Bully is next on the list).
Saturday I went to visit my mom and then came home and napped, then went out for ladydrinks and a fun party. For some reason we decided to leave fun party and go to Berlin. One of the strangest ideas I’ve ever had. Berlin is just different than it used to be, at least it was to me. It was always land of debauchery, gay and straight old and young, everything…all dancing and this was like…Hi Tops.
Sunday I was mildly hungover from trying to make myself feel young the night before and I did what any self-respecting old hungover person would do, I went out and bought a treadmill! YUP. I’m really excited about it. On my way to work today I actually came up with a backup plan in case my pants split down the middle. Don’t worry, I have it figured out.
And then I did my house “chores” and decided that that was it. From about 1:00PM on I stayed on the couch. I watched TV, I watched an HBO thing, I played Zelda (now I’m REALLY close) and then when John finally got home from actually working his ass off all weekend, we watched … er….tried to watch For Your Consideration. It was too depressing, I couldn’t watch, they’re all too old and it seemed like they were trying to not be funny. Catherine O’Hara is such a hero, but she wasn’t necessarily “funny” in this, she was improvising a serious character and I just…blah.
God, how could I write so much from a weekend of doing nothing?
Fascinating.

1. happy birthday, VIS' brother!
2. i want to hang out with vis sometime. i don't mind doing nothing.
3. really? like hi-tops? shit, i was only at hi-tops once (thank god), and i still have never been to berlin. blah.
4. man, i can't tell you how much i kept hoping and hoping and hoping that for your consideration was going to get better or funny. and that was from minute 10. and it's also sad that the entertainment tonight send off was the funniest (!?!) part, and even that sucked. man. i don't know if it's that they're old, i just think something went horribly, horribly wrong. bad premise? bad script? i mean, parker posey's not that old. you know? man, i can't tell you how disappointed i am in this one, but how overjoyed i am that i didn't see it in the theater like i wanted to.
