Games Without Frontiers

So here’s my post on Chicagoist about losing the functionality of our Tivo.

It’s amazing how some people just hop on comments to say how much they hate television or how I’m wasting my time. Well…duh! Then don’t read the post. Bah. I know it shouldn’t get to me but it does sometimes. I’m better at taking valid criticism than just “you’re stupid”.

And people actually think that I’m serious, that I just stay inside and watch TV, which I do, but … well…alright then.

But you know, I do read, I walk the dog, I have a busy but excellent job I work for, I eat too, I even have friends I talk to and an awesome website that I write for. I knew I would be getting some of this feedback when I started writing about TV for Chicagoist (oh yeah, I’m going to be the new TV contributor for Chicagoist! I loved doing books, but TV is my thang), and that’s okay. I think once I get into some more “critical” writing instead of just rehashing reality TV, it’ll get better. But still.

Anyway, I like my post, I think it’s cute and funny like myself, so there!

Man, were the sidewalks little deathwalks today or what? That thin layer of ice covered by water made for the most maddening walk to the train ever. I almost wiped about 85 times and I’m not even exaggerating. Not even.

I’m reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

No, no…better to say I’m eating Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

I love it when I’m reading a book I literally cannot put down. I just want to sit someplace quiet for about 3 hours while I finish this mofo up. Seriously, what a fun awesome read.

But I can’t do that, because I have too much TV to watch.

Hee.

seriously. after the comment about how the post was unfunny and something else, i wanted to write (under an alias) -- that comment was totally mean and unnecessary.

like ... umm.. why? why just go out of your way to be a dick? i do NOT get people like that. even if i thought, 'man, that post sucked,' i don't post comments on blogs unless there's something that i really agree with or i'm really pissed off about -- valid criticism time.

i don't get the just to be mean comment, or the insult comment "you aren't from here, so you don't count, nah nah nah." that one DOES get to me, so i finally had to say something about it on one of the posts. i don't think i was dick-y about it, but i think all those commenters need to be called out on it.

anyway, i thought it was funny, though the only thing i would have said would have been out of jealousy -- like welcome to my world, sister.

man, i should read ender's game again.

Thanks Smuss. I know it shouldn't get to me, I mean, one comment out of 18 valid ones. I'm too sensitive.

And you should DEFINITELY read Ender's Game again, finished it in like...36 hours. Had to. I just had to. It was too good.
