Ease in to your quit

That was one of the best pieces of advice so far that I’ve read about. “Ease into your quit” I like it, I’ve been saying it to myself over and over. Easing into my quit I am.

Anyhoo, last night I was on the purple line going to see my mom in Evanston and we’re cruising and its quiet as it always is on the Chicago trains. This is one of my many reasons why I love Chicago, its always quiet. In NYC, the train is always loud, morning noon and night and it’s so annoying.

Anyway, I’m on my quiet train reading my huge book (I’m actually doing two books right now, welcome to the world of not smoking) so I’m reading my huge book and I see out of the corner of my eye some guy wandering around the train. So like any good Chicagoan I put my head further in my book so as to avoid any eye to eye with a guy who wants my non smoking money.

So the guy comes back to my side and I hear another man say ‘Oh okay, why not” and I look up and the guy running around the train is passing out newspaper hats! And I look down the car and notice that about half the people have taken the newspaper hats and put them on their heads.

Well of couse when I’m offered one a second time, I take it and smile at the fellow who doesn’t say a word. He didn’t say a word to anyone, I don’t know if he couldn’t, or if he just didn’t want to.

But it was great, it was really great. It’s the little stuff I tell you. Paper hats. That’s all it takes.
