Make no little introductions
My sweet lord, it’s been a busy week.
Busy with gay men and dinners
Busy with John’s birthday which is tomorrow
Busy with mountains of homework that seemed insurmountable on Sunday afternoon
But I did it, I finished. I am as ready as I can be, and that feels good. I may suck, but I’ve done the preparation, so bring it on.
I have to give my first bit of tour on Saturday, and I had a gajillion things running through my head, facts and dates, they weren’t gelling though, they weren’t making sense to me.
So then I did the smartest thing I’ve ever done, I got the City of the Century on the Netflix. City of the Century was done by American Experience and it’s the history of Chicago from 1833 to 1893, the culmination of the worlds fair.
I’ve seen it before, but watching it this time, knowing the details and then just learning and remembering how one thing led to another was just awesome. It cleared up so much, it made the facts make sense. And it’s awesome interesting anyway. And probably the most important thing I learned of all:
I learn best from the television.
It’s where I’ve learned almost everything I know, the facts that stick in my head, it’s where I learned about Saddam, Al Qaeda, Vietnam and about how smart parrots are.
So here’s to books, for their constant referencing abilities, but more importantly, here’s to tv for making it gel together.
And for giving me the next Survivor in February.
