Did it

Christmas. Christmas was really nice. It really was.

John and I went on a Christmas walk on Sunday, we got salted caramel hot chocolate. We listened to carols and made a couple of yummy things. We did an early drive on Christmas Eve to his parents and had Christmas with them and our niece and nephew. We took walks in the woods and stared at the moon and came in to frosted windows and chex mix.

On Christmas proper I sat on my in laws couch for approximately 10 hours give or take. It was a quiet day and everyone was just sort of puttering and I don't really have puttering to do so I kind of sat. I like to think I picked the background movies for their puttering. Including Oceans Eleven, Goodfellas and um...something else.

I also ate a lot of food. I really did. I don't know who I think I am.

So our restful December is almost over. I'm ready. I'm ready to build things back up, to build on what we have, to make things and work hard physically and mentally too. To challenge myself a little bit, to remember that really, we're just here to play and enjoy ourselves. And it's not going to be about how clean the kitchen is when I'm 80.

2013.

I was thinking about you on Christmas and hoping that you were able to get through the day and enjoy: I know this was a milestone for you. Glad you did it. :)

Gotta say, holding down a couch for 10 hours is a nice job if you can get it. I always try to do that at my in-laws' house but usually get called to the kitchen to unload the dishwasher or something. :)

Happy New Year!!! xoxo
