Permission Slip

So, Kate sent me this link and it's a Dickensurl. It's like a tiny URL but you get a Dickens quote. Thank you Kate. It's pretty fun, I put in chicagostories.blogspot and this is the quote it pulled up:

He had a cane, he had an eye-glass, he had a snuff-box, he had rings, he had wristbands, he had everything but any touch of nature; he was not like youth, he was not like age, he was not like anything in the world but a model of deportment.
(Deportment by the way, means good behavior, like a child at school. I had to look it up)

Anyway, I just loved it so much. Reminds me of why I love Dickens. Read it out loud, it's absolutely rhythmic. More Dickens for me.

So.....

Thank you guys who read this and comment or don't but silently wish me well. It means a lot. And each day I think more and more that I should just do it. So yeah...I need a little more information but I feel good and strong about it all....mostly.

I was thinking of some friends of mine and decisions they're making, decisions for the better and I notice that I think we're asking permission. I know I do on the big decisions in life. My brothers especially, when I'm not sure which direction to go. A lot of times though I'm asking them to tell me its okay, to do what I want to, to make the right decision. My one brother was key in going to Thailand "just go, if you want to, go. You're allowed." Sometimes we just need to be told we're allowed to move forward. I have another friend who's making a hard decision, should he go or stay? It seems silly to go, risky, weird, uncomfortable...but he wants to go. I've been trying to be really open in making sure he has permission.

Sometimes it just helps to hear people say YES and GO FOR IT and ENJOY IT.

So thank you all for saying it.

I, too, say yea. and yay. Unlike Dan, my lawyering is only useful in situations you REALLY don't want to be in, but there are plenty o' free legal resources for new small businesses around the city. Let me know if you're not finding them and I'll see what I can dig up.

Ohh....Good quote! You know I love to get some book reccos from the Hixx.

On the tour/business front---I think it would be great!

And it's wonderful to declare something and then see how much that opens it up for you.

On the marketing front---you will be great. You already know how to do marketing--everyone does--it's just doing the work of it.

One of my all-time favorite tours ever is with this group---London Walks.

They are a delight! I'm not suggesting in any way that you should be like them--rather, giving a model for great product and good branding:

YAY Hixx! You can do it!

Yeah, just do it--take a risk. It is better to jump in with both feet and be scared and have a wild ride than to look back and realize that your whole life you just waited to get on the ride. We never know what tomorrow brings, so just do it and do it now. There is nothing to be afraid of. You are good enough. You are talented enough. You are creative, charming, and hilarious enough.

It's YOUR life afterall. If you want it, go for it. No one is judging you, and if someone out there is, eff them.

Yeah!

I meant to give you my pep talk in person last night...but my mind was stuck on other stuff.

My plan was to try to reinact quotes from "Big Night."

My Pascal is a little rusty...

"Hey, hey, fucking guy! What this is: "too much"? HEY! It is never "too much"; it is only "not enough"! Bite your teeth into the ass of life and drag it to you! HEY!"

My Secundo is much better:

"Make it, make it, make it, make the pasta!"
