Quiet time

The calm before the storm. I'm sitting here in our nice quiet house, its warm, the dog won't poop in the ice, but that's not why you're here, to hear about his kind of thing are you?

My brother comes in today and somehow that to me is always the most christmasy thing. Remember that old Folgers (was it Folgers?) commercial where the son comes in and the mom says "PETER". And the little girl is so happy her brother is home? That's how I feel still at 38 knowing my brother is coming in. It's such a symbol of Christmas.

He'll come in, we'll go to Hackneys (again) and my mother will be mean and we'll laugh and it'll be just like old times.

I'm looking forward to this year, although I have stresses about money and jobs and thailand, it has never really happened that me and my brothers have time off to actually talk to each other, so I'm working on appreciating the time that I have and to be merry and to know that we are all safe and warm and nothing, not one thing, is more important than that.
