Blech, is anyone tired of me yet? I’m so so so tired of me. It’s just endless isn’t it? Funny how that happens on my blog, that it’s about me. Huh.
I finished The Road last night and can’t say enough about it, the writing is …. unlike any other writing I have ever read ever. I need to read the book again because I steamrolled through it and this is a book that needs to be read slowly, or quickly, or both. McCarthy barely even uses sentence structure; he just manages to convey the most amazing images and emotions by just writing. I highly recommend you all get you some of The Road.
I have no idea how they’re going to make a movie of this book, voice overs and lots and lots of silence.
One thing I really noticed that his dialogue is incredibly Mametian. The conversations between the man and his son have the pacing and the repetitive nature of Mamet, they could come right out of a Mamet play:
Whats wrong
Wrong?
Yes.
Something wrong?
Yes
Okay
Okay
Are you talking?
I’m talking
Okay?
Okay
Like that, very similar.
We also can’t stop watching The Office, I realize I’m two years late here, but poor Karen. Yeesh.
I can’t wait for all the new TV! NEW TV! That HBO vampire show, ANTM, Heroes and the new JJ Abrams show…so much to see.
I am concurrently worried and not worried about my boy Obes. I fear no polls, I really don’t. I think polls are for losers. But my god man, it’s like in all his seriousness, all his critical thinking, my boy needs to find his sense of humor again. He really does. I swear if he can laugh off some of this McCain stuff, turn it around, bring it back on this silly old man who is making stuff up, it would really help. We’ll see what happens at the convention…
WHERE IS MY VP TEXT?
I miss my dog.

you never talk about me. *sigh*
We could never get tired of you. Because we love you. I say, talk about anything you want and vent away. We are here for you.
Ah ladies. You are cute. Thank you.
Jady, its coming up sister, it is so coming up.
whens!!!!
oh my god! I just read the road and finished it in less then 24 hours---on WEDNESDAY, too! How freaking weird is that?
I really loved it. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was talking and would have to count back the dialogue lines. Then, I thought, he's making it so I don't know who's saying what.
I cruised through it too, and need to re-read it more slowly. So wonderful and spare and not telling me everything....I loved it.
ANd I love you, too! You're awesome and will totally have an amazing wedding and marriage.
I agree with John---go on that honeymoon!
