Ah finally, the Friday I’ve been waiting for. Mmmmmmm.
So a special thank you to the handsome man I live with who made me a delicious, yet healthy dinner last night after reading my sulky blog. We had turkey burgers and green beans and grilled potatoes and it was delicious.
Today we went to our “tasting” for our food for the boat. It was good! We made some decisions, had some mini-cheeseburgers and chicken salad wraps, had some cake, and boom! Food is done.
A few quick Obama updates, this is cracking me up:
"Mr. Obama created an uproar as he worked the chamber for more than half an hour, accepting congratulations for his primary showing Tuesday, shaking hands and sharing hugs with Democrats in his camp, some in Mrs. Clinton’s camp and even some Republicans. He did a little curtsy before Representative John M. Spratt Jr. of South Carolina, chairman of the Budget Committee and one of the sought-after uncommitted superdelegates."
Oh how much money I would pay to watch Obama “do a little curtsy,” I love it.
I also love how Mr. Operation Chaos himself, Rush Limbaugh, is now saying he’s glad Obama is the nominee (yes, here is the obligatory, “most likely” the nominee, just in case, I don’t want Hillary mad at me either) because NOW he thinks Obama is the weaker candidate. Ha, believe it or not I listen to enough Rush and Hannity to know that they are having their own problems with their republican candidate and I find it funny that he just changes his mind...whatever Rush!
I finished reading “Loving Frank” by Nancy Horan. It’s the historical fiction story of Frank Lloyd Wright and his mistress Mamah Borthwick.
Now, I would think I’m the best audience in the world for this particular book, being who I am, and female and enjoying love stories of all kinds, but this…this just didn’t quite do it for me. There wasn’t enough architecture in it and it really seemed like Horan was playing it as generically as possible to keep it as close to the truth as possible. And like the history that she did know was at times forced into the story, things like this: (she didn’t write this following passage, this is my imitation of her writing this passage)
Frank Lloyd Wright - lover of prairie style houses, houses that wrapped the horizon with straight horizontal lines commonly known as prairie style, was a famous architect who took his inspiration from nature - really loved Mamah Borthwick.
I just don’t feel she did the best job incorporating the fiction into the realities and from what I know of FLW, he was a LOT meaner than he was in this book…I wanted the mean, mad genius, not some willowy wimpy Casanova.
I enjoyed it enough, but it’s no Devil in the White City. It does make me want to go see his house at Taliesin in Wisconsin.
Okay, I’m out running on Monday! Wish me luck.
