ISHT - In My Head edition

Weight – onefitty. Surprise!

So, this week I’ve been working hard on my food intake. I’m working on cutting out the small things that I know add up. Here in my office of ladies, we eat Cheezits, it’s our thing. There’s always a box of cheezits in the hizzy and I eat them, we all do. So…I’m cutting out the cheezits, its probably a 100 calorie a day habit, but hell, takes me ten minutes to run off 100 calories.

Also, I’m trying to cut out one thing at a time…like yesterday we all went out for lunch to a restaurant where I LOVE their fries, so…I decided I’m going to eat the shit out of those fries, and I did. But I also only ate half the bread of my sandwich and NO pre-lunch bread…which is HUGE. Seriously, I love eating bread, especially that tantalizing before-lunch bread. So..the little things, I’d like to try and cut it all out at some point, but not yet. I love it too much.

I’m also still working on this mind/body connection, does anyone have anything that they’ve read or watched that changed things for you? I think Smuss’ idea awhile back of eating consciously is huge, Tolle is a big proponent of that…don’t deny! Don’t resist, he’s big on “what you resist persists”, but what you should do is enjoy every single stinkin’ bite of those fries, or that cake…and not just shove it in your mouth…mind/body.

I’ve been hearing a lot of this advice too, from a couple of different sources; your body believes what your emotions tell it. So, if you’re scared, your body will react to the fear your emotion created, the same way it will react to real fear, your heart rate will speed up, adrenaline will pump, stress will occur.

The stories we tell ourselves about our lives, the fears we have, the worries we have, all have an effect on how our bodies work for us, how they handle stress, how we learn to calm ourselves.
I can go from zero stress level to one hundred stress level in under 5 seconds, especially if its about a certain wedding someone’s having, I can think of everything I have to do, everything I have to ask John to do, everything that needs to be done and I can start to cry on cue.

My body knows this, things constrict, things speed up, I can feel it.

And I literally have to learn to calm myself. To “Tolle” to go into myself and calm myself and my body, and I can feel that too. Fascinating.

Now, since you’ve all been so helpful with all things wedding related, can anyone help me with dress shopping? I don’t want to spend much, under 500$, it can be a “wedding dress” but it can definitely not be (a beautiful blue or something?)…we’ve been to dept stores and they’re all like…full fledge prom.

I don’t have any idea where to go? I don’t want to go somewhere where it will take 7 months to be done, that’s too late! Anyone know where there are beautiful dresses? Wedding or not? That aren’t too fancy with old ladies pulling up my corset?

Do I have to go to David’s Bridal?

OK, seriously, do NOT go to David's Bridal. Brian and I went there, all these salespeople were helping everyone out and they didn't even greet us! Totally ignored us. Not to mention that all the dresses were in plastic and looked the same on the racks and it was awful. We left after five minutes.

A friend of mine mail-ordered her dress from J. Crew. It fit really well, looked good on her and was definitely in your price range. http://www.jcrew.com/ms/weddingshop/w_splash.jhtml.

I was going to recommend JCrew also. They have awesome colors if you don't want white and awesome dresses. Their sizing is a little wonky, but I ordered my dress (it was $315 with shipping and I had it within 2 days) and then had a friend alter it for me. It was perfect, and I never had to set foot into a dress shop or feel pressured to spend $1000.

My sis-in-law got her dress at a resale shop, and not even a wedding one. She went to like one of those designer resale shops and boom!

I am thinking about you.

I do have to say that JCrew may be the way to go. They very much cater to the "beach wedding" set. And while some of their "wedding" dresses have gotten out of control, most of their bridesmade dresses come in white and are awesome/ Hixxish.

Thanks ladies! JCrew has some lovely things! Although I fear Mr. J. Crew might forget that alot of us have gigantic boobs, but still..

I also found some beauties on Ann Taylor I really like...so I might try some of those?
