Another pretty day, still kinda cold, but pretty.
I’ve had something cool happening the past few weeks that I’m totally digging…I seem to have gift certificates and coupons coming out of my butt, which is uncomfortable for my butt, but great for the rest of me!
I had a 5$ off for Whole Foods, used that up. I had 12$ in CVS bucks that they let me spend on vodka, I have a free Potbelly sandwich card I haven’t used up, I had a punch card for Foodstuffs I used yesterday – free salad, John and I spent the 25$ gift certificate we had at Bed Bath and Beyond, its so great! I’m paying like…2$ for all these things that should be 30$. Fun. I don’t know what it means, nothing, but its fun.
I saw Mariah Carey on Oprah, I’ve always thought Mariah was…scary. She seemed so dead to me, like she was a fake person. I honestly couldn’t even name one Mariah Carey song if my life depended on it, really…but after watching her, I kinda like her! She broke that Elvis record, so that’s something. She had that whole going away thing, and then coming back, you never hear about her really getting into trouble…some trouble but not like Britney trouble.
And her accent, her NY accent is still really strong, so it’s funny to listen to her talk. And I got the distinct feeling that she was really genuine. That she would be that same Mariah Carey whether she was breaking Elvis’ record or cleaning someone’s office…I dunno, but I thought she was really real or something.
Dan Savage’s lovecast can make me laugh out loud numerous times, in public.
A wedding cake is really going to cost me hundreds and hundreds of dollars? No, no it isn’t. I think we might find our way out of this, but if anyone wants to give me some advice about bakeries or cakes or something, let me know…but cake is cake, the 5 dollar cake at Jewel is as delicious as any other cake, or ice cream cake…mmmmmmmmm ice cream cake.
I’ll freaking put out little ho ho’s for everyone, those are great.
I will too…don’t cross me.

Cupcakes? How many people are you inviting? Would it be possible for friends to pitch in and make them together in one big push?
Honest to Pete, if this is one of your "totally don't care" pieces, and my cupcake suggestion is out of the question, then I say get a teensy little wedding cake, and I mean teensy, and then sheet cake from Costco. :)
Cakes are outlandishly priced and totally overrated. We had a pretty fancy cake and they forgot to tell us they were even cutting it so we didn't get any. Well we got a reject bite but that was it. Don't spend a ton on them.
Shea, you got it, cupcakes seem to be much less expensive, and they are adorable.
We're looking at about 120 guests.
Crescent, I remember that story, didn't they get some kind of fake shot of you guys cutting it?
They did. It was pretty funny. it was one of those wedding moments where I was like "Should I break down and get all sad and have Daddy yell at someone or just not worry about it and stage hilarious fake shots?" I'm so glad I chose the latter. It was WAY more fun then crying and pouting.
Have you checked out Sweet Honeybee bakery on Montrose? I don't know if their prices are good, but they seem like nice guys and they have an amazing cupcake selection. Maybe you could get a deal?
