ISHT- Shamrock

Wow. It’s so pretty out.

Sigh.

OKAY! So, ISHT-Shamrock edition.

Anyone wanna guess how much I weigh? Anyone? Hmmmm?
I swear my scale is broken. How can I go on a 5 day vacation and come home and weight EXACTLY the same? This lesson is to teach me how to see the glass. Because I have neither gained nor lost weight in months, somebody is trying to tell me that I should be pleased about this. So fine. Pleased.

Anyway, I’m getting revved up for the Shamrock Shuffle on Sunday! I’ve been running (started walking 4 minutes, running 1) a year ago. So this is great, my first public run, on a Sunday morning, through downtown Chicago, with a Hackneys payoff at the end. Yum. I’m looking forward to it, and even though I know it’s very casual and yadda yadda, it’s a big deal for me, and for Sabrina who stopped smoking and drinking and has been holding this day in her head as a real milestone. So I think its going to be a ton of fun.

Last night I wanted to go on an easy run, just a run, and John says “Go run up to Moody’s and back”. So I did, I just ran, wasn’t worried about time or distance or anything and when I got back to start, I had run four miles! Which was great, because I didn’t get really tired till right at the end. I honestly thought I had run about 3 miles…so that was nice. I’ll do one more short run tomorrow and then the Shuffle!

I made a nice hair cut appt for myself next week and will get my fingernails and toenails done and maybe a nice ole eyebrow wax. I also might make a massage appt too. I’m proud of myself for getting this far, never thought in a million years I would get up on a Sunday morning to run 5 miles and I think I should congratulate myself with fun lady things.

After the goal of this race is done, I want to start doing more Itrain, doing some more “cross training” some more really fast walking, more strength, keep running, but not make running the focus that it is now. I can feel that it’s hard on my body, just random aches and such…so I’d like to start making my whole body stronger and more flexible, maybe a yoga class here or there. Any recommendations for yoga? I do not belong to a gym…

Lastly, here’s a pic Elisabeth took of Radar, Ralph and Remo, it really pleases me and I thought you all should see how awesome dogs are. I read that the whole housing crisis is leading to more animals being ditched….lets kiss people like Elisabeth for doing the right thing…

Oh - P.S. - I'm a fan of Bloom Yoga Studio over on Rockwell. You can drop in, no need to sign up in advance, and I think their prices are pretty reasonable.

Good luck in your Shuffle. Remember, the scale is just a number. There are lots of factors with women and weight. You should be proud of all of your hard work. 4 miles without even realizing it, quitting smoking, maintaining the same weight after quitting smoking: HUGE deal. Way to go!
