Hey guess what? 150!!! Surprise!
So, I watched this Nova about how they picked 12 people, 12 regular out-of-shape people to come together and train for a marathon. It was really interesting. I think a lot of it I already knew, but it was neat to watch. One thing they said happened was although people’s V02 count increased (the measure of oxygen that gets to your blood I believe? A good test of fitness), the participants never lost weight.
And most of them managed to run the marathon, I think after 6 months training? They went from couch potatoes to marathon runners (granted, not fast ones, but still) and never lost more than a pound or two. Except for one lady, who really started watching what she ate.
This really did surprise me. I think somewhere I knew that just running alone won’t help you lose weight, but even TRAINING FOR A MARATHON, they still didn’t. But, they’re fitness levels increased very noticeably.
So, we’re learning our lessons over here and I’m figuring out my priorities. You know, I still can’t figure out why I haven’t lost weight, although I also know why. My eating habits are definitely better, definitely, I mean I seriously used to eat Mickey D’s a few times a week, and now that last time I had it was Christmas.
But, you know, I did go out last night and eat two slices of stuffed pizza, so…
I am way more interested in becoming more fit than losing weight. Hell, I’m even fine with my weight; I honestly could not care how much I weigh, its what I look like. Right now, I’m tighter I know this, but I want to be buff! If I weighed 200 lbs and was totally buff, I would have no problem with that.
I don’t even know what I’m rambling about over here, but I do know this for sure….once I get back into it, once I commit myself to this, once I start working out pretty much every day, once I start running outside again, lifting weights, doing enough pushups to make my arm flexibility worse than John McCains…the more I want to do, the faster I want to be, the stronger I want to be, and the less I care about what the stupid scale says…right there with you Waflen, nasty little machine.
Happy Thursday!

HIXX!
Muscle weighs more than fat! Running puts on muscle. So for every bit of muscle you gain, but stay the same weight, you're losing more fat!
You should be measuring your waist/hip ratio, and keeping a record of that! it'll tell you more than your weight.
I know I know! But you know, I've been doing this for close to a year now and have lost...5lbs. FIVE POUNDS.
That is just sad! But! I don't watch what I eat as much as I should. You know, if I wasn't running and working out, I'd probably weigh a lot more, so I should be happy with my same weight me thinks.
