Woweeee!
Good day, my editor (how much do I love saying that?) just came by with a first look at the book. Lots and lots of little green marks. In my defense, I felt no shame at all the little green marks, I am by no means a “professional” writer. I never went to school for it, I know absolutely nothing about AP Style and put in way too many commas. But this is how I learn right? She’s so awesome and so into it and so exact and expedient about it, it makes me feel …safer knowing she’s working on this with me. So…yay.
Okay, I finished “Into the Wild”, my second time reading it, and as always, have a slight writerly crush on Mr. Krakauer. Part of my crush stems from the fact that he keeps you reading these books with all this drama and build up and somehow, you don’t even notice he’s doing it. His writing is so straight-forward, so clear, it feels like he’s just telling you a story…but I know that in reality, Chris McCandless is not what fascinates me, but when I read Krakauer’s version of the story, it fascinates me to no end. So yay to him. I’ll be checking out the flick this weekend.
Also, watched both available episodes of Gossip Girl last night…HOOKED! Love it. It’s like Cruel Intentions meets Sweet Valley High. I’m all about it. Granted the lead girl looks like she’s 30 years old, but I can’t wait till Wednesday. Go Gossip Girl! Bring me home sister!
Tonight I have the next 20 or so years in my architecture class. Last week was great, I didn’t learn too much I don’t already know, but with this guy, it’s all in the telling.
Here’s the one great thing he said I never really realized…
The three great architects of this country are Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright and Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe.
These three men each have ONE building in New York City.
And they each have numerous buildings here (some even left standing!).
Cool huh?
Oh, and those balloon frame houses we’re so well known for? Wouldn’t have been possible without mass producing the nail. Yup.
More tomorrow.
