Friday Night Lights

Hi!

Hi little blog!

Happy Columbus Day!

WHHOOOOEEEE what a weekend. I could have that weekend every day of my life. What a joy.
Friday night I headed to mom’s to hang with my brother and my mutha. It was nice, my mother, like all mothers, is so crazy about any upcoming wedding it’s almost impossible to just have a normal conversation with her. But fun still…

After that I came home and watched Friday Night Lights, and I’m VERY worried. Very. First half? Perfection, such perfection, Connie Britton is mine and everyone else’s hero, even if they don’t know it yet. But man…what were they thinking adding this “Dark Turn?” It worries me, it worries me a lot. It’s so implausible, so “dramatic” that I hate it. I truly do. My Time Magazine TV guy swears it gets better, but I don’t know…its so….out of place. But I love FNL and will hang in there; they must know what they’re doing right? And of course I watched Gossip Girl, totally loving it.

Saturday up around…I dunno…eleven? How luxurious! Then John made delicious biscuit, sausage, cheesy, eggy goodness for me and Sabrina and then she and I skipped out to go see Into the Wild. I really enjoyed it, if that’s the right term for it. Beautiful movie, and interesting that the movie was very true to the book…not just the story of Christopher McCandless, but to Krakauer’s book, and the themes he used…like the tattered jeans with patches on them, the airplanes always overhead. The music was beautiful; the scenery was beautiful and on the way out, Sabrina had a minor breakdown trying to get out of the hellish AMC parking lot. Girl is claustrophobic anyway but I honestly believe the movie had an impact on her hard time. It makes you see the world in a different way and makes concrete parking garages seem like jail cells. Recommend.

Saturday night we went out with friends to dinner, much talk was centered around buying dresses, very obviously one of the harder parts of this for me, as I don’t want a “gown” and hate shopping (one friend said “It’s okay Margaret, we’ll just start with a walk around the block and go from there” hilarious.) The poor dudes were sitting back watching the ladies go at it until we moved from yelling about weddings, to yelling about Hillary, the one other thing the dudes didn’t want to hear about. It was funny.

Sunday we got up at…eleven! Oh my. We hung out and then went to a bbq at my friend John’s new apt. We had such a good time. There are times in one’s life, when one feels free to say whatever they choose, with no worry about repercussions. With this group, I (and John too) could say the most depraved, offensive, hilarious things that came to mind, and anyone else there would say something even more depraved. So wonderful. We ate cheeseburgers and laughed for a solid three hours.

Then home last night, watched some TV and hung with my man…candles, romantic…what a great weekend. This afternoon I should know what my boss thinks of the book, pray for me friends, pray for me.
