Another weekend come and gone, but this one at least held a milestone or two…
Friday night we stayed in with the dog, how pathetic is that? There are some nights in a couple’s life where we just want to stay home with the dog.
Saturday up early for a run, then off to the office for a bit to work on the book. It was so quiet, so nice, in just about an hour and a half I got a ton done. Left work then to do my FINAL TOUR OF THE SEASON! Yip! Great tour, beautiful day…the crowd was happy. This time I got the best compliment I’ve ever gotten, an older man stepped off the boat and looked right at me and said “I live in Arizona now, but you made me want to move to back to Chicago”. Yes…that is what I’m trying to do here, it was really wonderful.
Saturday night we had “date night” and went for dinner (BAD dinner) and then home to watch Breach. Which was the most silently boring movie…it started out interesting and then BOOM, sent John right to sleep as I battled it out for pouty Ryan Phillipe. Never again.
Sunday up early again for a beautiful bike ride to moms and a tough wind facing bike ride home. Home for two seconds before running out to see “the Brave One”. Jodie Foster rules, but we all know that. The movie however, did not. I couldn’t help compare it to Falling Down which was just a better movie. Jodie’s cracking point, where she decides to go vigilante, was about as harrowing as me deciding if I’m going to wear “comfortable” or “pretty” underwear on any given day. There were so many unbelievable points in it, I just couldn’t jive, and it’s REALLY violent, and for nothing. But I will say again, that Jodie rocks.
Got home, cleaned, ate some pizza and watched TV…watched the pilot for Bionic Woman which I liked…it’s like Alias, but with a lady who can run really fast. It’s got that same cheesiness that Bum Notice had, lots of really stupid lines said with serious faces, but I enjoyed it; because I love that “whole world that I don’t know anything about” kind of stuff. I tried to watch the pilot for Chuck, and stopped about 2 seconds into it. Funny/Serious is not my thing; I like one or the other.
Another busy week, final Apes, book and continuing running…but this weekend holds a wonderful promise…a promise of nothing. No Apes, no tours…the book will continue, but that will be my only “have to”. Promises.
Oh, and the Emmys? Didn’t watch, no FNL, no Hixx, got it? Although I am very happy for 30 Rock, they deserve it. And I secretly wish Kevin Dillon had won, but glad Piven did for Entourage. Maybe next year, if they smarten up, I’ll watch Friday Night Lights take the whole cake.
