Crafty Beaver

Another Monday, but this morning I promised myself I would just do the things I needed to do, no inner complaining or shushing myself so I could just go eat ice cream. So far so good.

And this weekend was filled with me doing things I wasn’t quite ready or prepared for. I started out with a GREAT tour on Saturday, it was cool and cloudy, full boat, planes overhead, nice funny crowd. It was rockin.

Then I came home and played some 80’s guitar hero. Talk about rockin’. Saturday night we went to dinner and a party, all good times. I played the Wii for the first time. It was fun, but it didn’t make me feel like I needed to run out and get it. But yeah, we played tennis, and I was serving like a Playboy bunny.

Sunday it all went to hell. I had a 10:00 tour and it was raining. It stopped for most of the tour, but I did look lovely in my poncho! About halfway through my microphone started going in and out, they’d come fix it, it’d be fine for awhile, and then it’d go out again. At one point, near the end of the tour, right around Navy Pier, it started raining again, people were heading downstairs and the mike went out again, I finally just stood there for the last 10 minutes, yelling the tour, in my poncho, in the rain. Ack. It just kept pouring after that, so no going to the Air and Water show, which was the plan.

On the way home, down LSD on the bus, I was so sad looking out at the beach, no one there really, usually its so packed there’s not a bit of free space. It just made me sad.

Then, at about Irving Park and LSD I saw a bunch of cops, a bunch. And when we all gawked over, we saw a body (covered up) on the ground, shoes splayed out, people standing everywhere, apparently a woman jumped, I checked it in the news. The shoes were really the most frightening part, so normal, so empty. Some poor lady got up and put those shoes on Saturday morning, and was dead by 2:00.

On a lighter note, we had a great GREAT lunch at Glenn’s Diner, so my new favorite place, and then Sabrina took me to a craft store to pick up puppet fixin’s.

Honestly, I’m not sure I’ve ever even been in a craft store.

It was a truly bizarre experience, arts and crafts have never been my thing, and it was just so weird to be in a place where you never are, a whole different world of women. So many women, I don’t think I even saw a dude and if he did, I bet he looked as perplexed as I did.

I got a lot of felt, a lot of foam and rubber cement, which I found out when I got home is no help with foam and felt. Huh. Who knew?

But my puppet is coming along, I thought my friend in puppet making would be a needle and thread, now I’m finding my friend in puppet making is safety pins.

But he’s looking pretty weird so far, I kind of like him, and know for damn sure, that in no other time in my life, past or present, will I make a puppet…so its kind of a neat once in a lifetime. I say that now of course, but ask me again on Thursday how I feel about puppet making.

crafty beaver. that's one of my hated logos. it's a beaver who is wearing pants (which wouldn't be the end of the world), but he has. no. tail.

dude. that's one of the most distinguishing features one thinks of when you think of a beaver (animal). buck teeth and the fucking TAIL! duh.

John is so into the all you can eat shrimp night, we will definitely do that.

Let's just wait until I don't have to make puppets anymore!
