SRF

Early entry today folks. It’s snowing, we have our office Christmas (holiday) party tonight and I gotta leave early, to walk the dog in the snow, to come back downtown in party clothes to drink alcohol and eat food. So..here we go.

Okay, I was pretty out of it last night due to some shopping fiascos that I had pre-Survivor. Namely, I couldn’t find anything cute to buy for the party tonight and I was furious, storming through Filene’s, swearing about “how come no one carries any goddamn cute skirts?”. After two hours of looking, I arrived home furious and frustrated.

Only to find that my MVP, the man I’ve been standing behind for weeks now, that Yul suddenly decides, that at this moment in time, the crucial moment, to be an asshole.

The reward challenge of buying food is one of my favorite challenges. I really enjoy watching them bid and bid and was completely surprised to find that Jonathan was the pretty much the only one smart enough to bid on anything. HOW STUPID. HOW STUPID? They know it could end at any moment and they all just sit there like buttheads and not eat anything. And then Yul decides, and I was actually okay with this one, that now is the time to tell everyone about the idol. Okay, fine, interesting strategy, I can deal with that, maybe it would have worked.

But then, to go back to camp and start tootin’ your horn about how you’re the ringleader (admit Yul, you love it when they call you that), start telling everyone how you know “how to deal with Jonathan” and that you have it all under control? You’re playing a dangerous game my friend, a very dangerous game.

Does anyone else think Adam has a little gay jaunt to him? A little homosexual something or other? Anyone?

And you know what? See ya Candice, adios, don’t let the torch hit your ass on the way out.

And can I just say one more time how much I love Jeff Probst? Calling Jonathan out on his game in the reward challenge? He knows exactly what’s going on, and is never ashamed to shout it out.

I love him.

Now, here are some winter scenes from this morning to put you all in the holiday mood.

Lovely pics, Madge! I'm saving a few of those on my home computer. that El Station pic is one of the things that says "Winter in Chicago" to me.

Also, I've asked Santa for a digital camera this year. I want to add my own pics to my blog. And capture pics of events and such.

Cheers,
Mr.B

Thanks Mr. Biddle!

I'm such a spaz with my camera, but I like to have it to play with.

And its fun for the blog, to explain things that are hard to explain. Like my chocolate shelf.

Nice shots, Ms Hicks. And so timelily contemporaneous.

Am 50% through "The Fountainhead," which you loaned my wife last week.

It is a great, great book.

Last read it in high school, "Atlas Shrugged," shortly thereafter. It was a turning point.

Since, amended my assessment of Rand to the typical academic sneer/smear that she was a heartless cryptofascist.

Yet because I am embarking again on the Writing Life (just did my second interview for un upcoming Reader feature-- my first pitch to them in twenty years), and will soon be publishing some of my old Reader fiction and features on www.pixelero.com*, I am terrified, like a small woodland creature when a shadow crosses the grass, of the depredations of The Muse, whether "people'll like it;" feelings for which "The Fountainhead," is the exact antidote: exactly the spine-stiffening tonic I needed. Bless ya for the work you do, just being your damn self.

Saw John on the Brown Line a week ago and we waved at each other-- we were trapped by the crush, like Paul Newman & Julie Andrews in "Torn Curtain"-- (I was the femme, of course... "The Heels are alii-av, with the sound of mewwww- ziiiicckkkk...") We agreed using sign language to get together sometime soon and drink.

And "The Fountainhead," dang, what a book. Thanks to you, now revisited.

-Chuck (and Lisa).

*When we next see each other, can you give me some advice on how the blog-thing works? I already have a home page, but it needs a retrofit to post all my material and I don't know how to begin to do it, and I thought maybe I could do a blog-format thingy.

That's all. We'll be here throughout the holidays. Great blog, btw.

Hey, I think Adam is going to hook up with Pavarti before the end, there are still many days remaining, and he obviously is looking for a piece of ass. Snuggly with 2 girls at the same time. Gay? I don't know, but I will watch more closely. I think "monkey boy" seems a little more gay than him.

Charles! Nice to hear from you my friend, glad you're liking the Fountainhead, be ready to defend your opinions, so many people hate the book. But exactly, it is a cure for self-consciousness.

KT, not a bad guess, but would Parvati oblige?

Very interesting...
