Peace Treaty

As the holidays approach, and chocolate goodies approach faster, I have been stopping to think about what I put in my mouth.

Obviously, the Atkins did not work for me. I love bread and despise raw meat too much to have ever made it on that diet. Bah to Atkins.

But now I’ve been reading and watching that Dr. Oz. and yes, I know, he’s only telling us what we already know, and that apparently he creeps people out, but I like hearing the reasons things work as they do, and I think he’s interesting.

So slowly but surely (I haven’t exactly *started* the diet, still reading the book), I’m replacing cheezits with walnuts, and am working on trying to eat this packet of oatmeal I have. As a young girl of sixteen, climbing Longs Peak in Colorado, the Hixx had a few problems with oatmeal. I rejected it as if I just downed a liter of tequila. Nuff said.

My problem of course, more than anything, is sweets. I really love my carbs, but honestly, it’s the late night chocolate eating. I’m getting better, I really think so.

Yet…

This is “my shelf” in our cupboard at home. This is where John puts treats for me, things he’ll know I like.

My shelf apparently, is my biggest problem ever.
