Friday started out with a rainy bang (my favorite) as I managed to traipse over most of the Loop in a thunderstorm. It was unpleasant yes, but neat, because how often do you see lightening and hear thunder over the skyscrapers of the Loop? Not often. And the dead umbrellas littered the streets and people were running and I just kind of settled into it and enjoyed it.
Made it most of the way to the Chicagoist dinner at Zapatista but stopped first in the Wabash Tap, where I was welcomed by Brian, an older very drunk man and his nemesis “someone” who had no teeth, that made Brian kinda mad, so we talked about that. Brian did buy me a drink while the lady bartender kept a very close eye on me, which was nice.
The Chicagoist dinner was way fun, drinks and food and great conversation. Hilarious conversation actually and I had a really nice time. Joining Chicagoist is like joining a sorority (in the best way). It’s like making a group of automatic friends, and they’re supportive and smart and hilarious and awesome. Unfortunately, a shot of some dark poison made me sleepy and tipsy, so I went home before Live Band Karaoke. And that my friends, is sad.
Saturday was a day of napping, and breakfast in bed, thanks to John. Sweet.
Saturday night we headed out to Carols. Man. I was not in the mood for it, but if I was, it would have been a blast. That place is rockin! And it’s all different people and ages and colors, fun place. I forget how fun it is there.
Yesterday I gave a tour for mostly New Yorkians. I have a grudge against that dirty city and sometimes it comes out in my tours. I did warn them all of this beforehand, so anything that came out after that is not my fault. For my non fiction class I wrote an essay about NYC that I will post here shortly for peeps that want to read it, but suffice it to say, blech.
So one dude is trying to stump me on all kinds of stuff and at the end he says “thank you for your interesting tour”. Jackmo. He hated it. But I was really funny and passionate yesterday, so alas, he can go back to dirty-rat-no alley-town and stay there!
Now it’s Monday, and I’m going in for a root canal tomorrow.
Welcome to this week.
Here's the Sears Tower and 333 N. Wacker all rainy and scary.

333 n. wacker ... the building that goes only by address, but will always be 'castle grayskull' to me!
