I'M 36!!

Wow. I just read my blog post from my birthday last year.

How depressing I was.

How much better things are now. How so much better.

Let’s take stock shall we?

1. I have a great boyfriend. John continues to be the most solid, dependable, hilarious, amazing, smart, kind, creative, romantic and wonderful friend to me. He’s handsome and sexy and I’m so proud to call him my boyfriend.

2. I have a great family. Besides all the icky that can surround my mom and her stroke, my family is unbelievable. We love each other so much, make each other laugh so much, and take care of each other so much.

3. I have a great dog. My dog is the best dog. He’s funny and smart and stupid and silly and is unlike any other dog in the world. Good Remo.

4. I have a great job! Oh my gosh last year I was so unhappy. I got rejected from a job I really wanted and I felt horrible. This year we all just got back from a long lunch of giggling and laughing. I have enough money, I have enough time to be creative, I have benefits and 401K’s. I’m proud of what I do and where I work.

5. Creatively, I’m doing a ton more than last year. I’ve got Chicagoist, which is SO GOOD! I’m taking a writing class in September, I’m still improvising here and there. Just…so much more.

6. I have wonderful silly friends. Friends who do amazing things and open clubs and star in amazing plays and write shows and play D&D.

Here are two things I’ve learned, as I’m now middle-aged and 36.

1. Say no when you want to.
2. Say yes if you’re not sure

Be on the lookout for more blog posts. John and I head to GenCon tomorrow and there will be pictures and posting galore. I can’t wait.

Happy birthday to me. Now I’m going to make sure that next year is even better than this one.
