Okay.
I hate to do this.
And I think in some way, I was holding off. Just in case something extraordinary was going to happen, which it will, just not in my specified time frame.
The Improv Inferno has lost its lease.
I'm not saying its closing (it is, but not forever), but I am saying they lost their lease.
I'm sad for my friends, who worked their combined asses off to open the coolest comedy venue. I'm sad because that awesome space won't be around anymore. I'm sad because they have to start over from starting from scratch.
But, my christian friends, God does not close one door without opening another, so here are the upsides:
They have so much support, the community they basically created in that town is unbelievable. People want them there, need them there, they will find a new space, a better space, and they will be happy there for a good long time.
They know what they're doing now, they have a better understanding of whats happening around them. It's like the Chicago Fire, a horrible thing of course, but it allowed Chicago to rebuild with what they already knew. Its like getting a second chance, like being able to go to High School again with what you know now. That kind of thing.
So to Dan and Sabrina and Trish, you are all amazing. You have created something amazing, that I'm proud to be a part of, even as an onlooker. The Inferno will not die!
BREATHE FIRE, BREATHE!
Long live the Inferno.
rockin'.
