Haughty Melodic

Another busy day, I love these days.

I say a lot that I don’t *like* music. I listen to the radio, but only AM talk radio, and I’ve never really been a concert girl, or live music at the local pub. None of these things really float my boat. I much prefer my television or a card game.

When I do listen to music, I’m at the gym and listening to showtunes, or music from my adolescence, REM or Prince or some other such nonsense.

But I’m very reticent about listening to new music, the rap These Kids listen to these days is noise, just like our parents said. But I’ve always said this, because it is.

But my brother introduced me (3 months ago, it’s just taken me till now to listen to it) to Mike Doughty “Haughty Melodic”. And this is some awesome stuff. I’ve always loved me some Dave Matthews and as much as you purists don’t want to admit it, this dude has a lot in common with my Mr. Matthews.

HOWEVER! I will say Doughty is a lot more of a wordsmith than Matthews, he’s definitely deeper and more poetic. He’s also got this yummy, sexy voice that gets me all worked up on the treadmill. He’s awesome, and I want to find out when he’s coming in concert.

Is he hot? Dunno, I think I may go right now and check the google. Maybe I shouldn’t though, what if he’s not…hold on….

…ooh, he’s not really. Still though, love the tunes.
