Get up stand up

Little bit of an early blog update today, its been very busy and right now its very quiet, so…I’ll write now.

Neat that I wrote something for Chicagoist no? Even though it is tiny, it is my first attempt to do any kind of real writing at all and I’m proud of myself for getting something out there. I’m waiting to hear if I will be a permanent Books and Literature contributor (there’s some other girl on there writing book reviews, and hers are GOOD, so we’ll see) but really it’s one of those “it’s a pleasure just to be nominated” and it is. I had to jump through about 3 hurdles to get this far on there, and am proud that my first time out, I at least get some postings on a website I really respect. So…yippy for me! There should be another one today about the Unabridged Bookstore, so keep a look out for that.

This past weekend was fun. Friends out on Friday night, laughing and having a good time, good shows too at the Playground.

Saturday went to see mom, who uncomfortably enough, is missing her front tooth. It was a fake to begin with and I guess it came out and she swallowed it. She’s fine, but it is distressing to see her without her front tooth.

Saturday night John and my friend from high school, Lisa, went to Zanies to see another old friend of mine perform. It’s been roughly 10 years since I’ve seen his act (which I used to see all the time when I worked at the Improv Comedy Club and studied standup as much as possible) and it amazed me how much his act was the same. Really…he’s awesomely good, but not much has changed. That’s how standup is I suppose.

The guy after him was a riot, and manipulated us so beautifully. He got us so riled up we could barely sit down, he was very friendly persona, which I like in my comics and we were just too excited he was there. Fascinating how they can do that. I still think I like studying stand up more than Improv. There’s something…extra there.

Sunday, we sat. And sat. And sat. And cleaned. And sat. It was nice.

Tonight! TV! Bachelor, 24, Battlestar Galactica. It’s all just too much eh?
