Ahh, how things can change in a day.
First off, my passive aggressive boss got herself the most non-passive aggressive lesbian haircut you’ve ever seen. Then proceeded to say at my desk that she’s a big lesbian. So now we know, haircut plus verbal confirmation. Done and done.
I’ve had two recruiters call today with jobs lined up, thank the sweet lord, my annoying them has paid off.
Maybe I should get a lesbian haircut?
I saw one of my dearest friends last night. He was awesome and I miss him. He has a very particular way of stating things that no one else can say but him. Why oh why he had to leave my world I don’t know, but I love him and miss him and wonder how in the world I figure out my life without him in it.
I finished my Masterbuilders-Mies section and I guess knew a lot of what it said. But while our friend Corbu was building crazy buildings with crazy windows and concrete, Mies basically just shut it all down. What does it need to stand? Then leave it at that. His credo of less is more is exactly that. Strip it down. But what Mies did was make it beautiful, from the furniture, to the staircase to the moldings. Nothing was left to chance, not even window vents.
Now I’m getting on to Frank Lloyd Wright who I’m fascinated about. I don’t like his architecture all that much, it looks like squat little buildings to me, but his relationship with Louis Sullivan and his denouncement of all things modern (Mies) makes for an interesting read. He was doing in America what the Europeans did 20 years later. And that is bringing architecture back to nature. And the whole “prairie style”. It’s all fascinating and I plan on reading more about all 3 master builders.
Oh, and War of the Worlds? Did I say this yesterday? Just don’t. Don’t see it. Don’t pay for it. Don’t go near it. Shun it. Turn away from it.
Sabrina, tomorrow. My friend.
