Follow the Leader

So I gave my first almost real architecture tour on Sunday. My dear friends (about 8 or 9 of them!) all came out to test run my Culture and Commerce tour. I get certified for this tour this weekend (let’s hope, I like parentheses today), and I thought I’d get one more run in before the big day.

And it was weird! It was fun and hard and weird. So far I’m used to giving tours to just myself or one other person, so to have a group there was really odd.

I still have a VERY high spaz factor and add a little nervousness with talking to your friends and seeming knowledgable and it was all very strange.

Also strange to watch them half pay attention. And I expect this, I’ve done the same thing on the tours I’ve been on, even if I’m completely interested, you kinda fade in and fade out and listen to some parts and not listen with rapt attention to everything.
John got some awesome pictures that I will post here when I get them, he got some sweet ones of the dome in the Cultural Center.

I felt like I lost them a bit at the end, but the end of the tour is not that strong anyway. Where I feel really strong and what I find the most interesting is all the Burnham vs. Sullivan stuff. Comparing their two department stores (Marshall Fields and Carsons’) is really neat and they’re really different.

I got positive feed back from everyone, so that’s a good sign, but what are they going to do? Tell me I suck?

So all in all a successful day, the weather was beautiful, my friends were beautiful and my love took some beautiful pictures. Good stuff.

TONIGHT! Amazing Race and Starlet. When did Tuesday nights become AWESOME?
