Here and gone

OH MY GOD MY POOR BLOG!

Ten to 3:00.

It’s gotta be the worst time on a Friday afternoon, so close yet so freaking far.

Sometimes I forget that I can swear in my blog if I want.

Ten to 3:00.

It’s gotta be the worst time on a Friday afternoon, so close yet so fucking far.

It just seems so vulgar when written out. Or spoken I assume.

So I used to work at the Chicago Humanities Festival (this is where I would normally put the link, right under that sentence, but I still don’t know how and I’m not sure how to look it up cause I don’t know what to call it so if you want to see the website you can go here http://www.chfestival.org/). It’s basically a two-week festival of artists, authors, playwrights, journalists, philosophers, performances, etc. It’s awesome.

The woman who was president of the organization has quit. And I gotta say, there’s a little bit of ding dong about it. She created something amazing and something I’ve been going to for the past.gosh..15 years. But as time passed, the programs got so intellectual, so far reaching, that the general population had no idea who most of the people were. The tickets are all 5$ for whoever you’re seeing, so they’re not making all their money on the festival, so they don’t much care if people went or not.

But I did.

One year they had a comics symposium. Jules Feiffer and Neil Gaiman and all those cool guys that boys love. And it was so well attended, by people who would never have known about this thing anyway. I wanted more of that. She let me go. I was hired as a temp employee two years in a row. Going back because I loved it. I think she thought I was too blue collar for her, my humor worried her as it could often turn dark and dirty. I think she thought I was going to call one of her board members a vagina.

I don’t know what she thought. But she’s gone. And I don’t think she went lightly. I respect her for what she created, but I disrespect her for what she did to it.

Good luck to the CHF, I can’t wait to see who comes in to take it over. It’s an amazing place with amazing people.

Class tomorrow, more Mies and zoning laws.

ZZZZZZZZZ
