Ah…fine by me if it’s going to get colder this week. I could not give a damn. It’s here, and there may be burps and bubbles, but spring is here, and it changes everything.
Anyway, here is a short list of what got done this weekend (chores done include John as well, who was a MACHINE this weekend):
Had good dinner
Watched Battlestar Galactica
Cleaned the bathroom
Cleaned the kitchen
Cleaned the damn shoe mat with winter salt and shnick all over it
Colored my hair
Gave myself a mani/pedi
Went with good friend to yummy dinner
RAN MY FASTEST MILE (ahem, thank you Lance Armstrong)
Took Buddy to the vet
Charmed the vet
Fixed the bathroom mirror
Did the laundry
Went dress shopping (close but no cigar)
Had beer before dress shopping
Went to see “21” (not that interesting, book “Bringing Down the House” much more interesting)
Went grocery shopping
And man, that doesn’t even feel like half of it. It was a great weekend full of leisure and getting stuff done. Very fine.
And the best part was driving around, watching everyone come out of their cages. I swear the population of Chicago doubles on the first really nice weekend. And we Chicagoans are so pale, so unsteady on our summer legs….we falter and stumble into the sunshine, our eyes blinking, not used to that golden ball in the sky. Our pale skin reddens in five minutes, yet we turn our heads up and out, drinking it in. I love it so much.
So bring on a couple of forty degree days, I can take it. You can’t fool me old man winter, you’re gone, and you may be leaving little cold farts in your wake, but you’re still gone.
See you, you smelly old man.
