Two years ago today -- probably right about this time -- John and I walked into the city pound on S. Western. We saw a few doggies, a sad four year old female who almost made the cut (hope things are well for you Pringle, we honestly think about you a lot), a Rottweiler who ate another dogs poop when we got outside (John made it very clear that was something he just could not deal with) and your little black and white squiggle (you had to pee so bad when we took you out in the yard, you were walking funny, poor little man).
When we took you outside, you passed the first test, you were way more interested in me and John than you were with the ball. You just wanted to see us, we knew right away. We ran around the yard with you a few times, but we were sold. John and I looked at each other and smiled, it was automatic, we picked you and you picked us.
We went through our “interview” process and then we got to come back into the pound and put the “I’m adopted” sign on your cage and promised through watery eyes that we would see you tomorrow.
And then we got you, I made it through the longest day of work of my whole life. I came home and John pretended to sit on the couch more to tease me. We got in the car and got your drowsy butt (you just had your stuff snipped) home. And we haven’t let you go ever since.
You bring more joy to us than I can ever imagine. You make us laugh and cry; you do the best tricks, and have the pinkest little tummy. Your whole middle section sways as you walk, your ears lie down and perk up, sometimes you look like a bear, a reindeer or a horse.
You keep all my secrets and John’s too. Your little doggy prance as you follow him around the apartment makes me smile every time.
Thank you for being the best little dog we could ever know and we love you, and John promised we’re having hamburger tonight to celebrate, that’s right….all three of us.

what is it about humans that makes us name people all sorts of different names? i love that.
he's a cutie! (said in the cadence that the warvey girls say 'he's a suitor!' in 'o brother where art thou.')
*sniffle*
This is so sweet. I love pet stories, they get right to me.
Yay Remo!
awww, so sweet! congrats on two years.
fyi, my most-used nickname for your dog is "beamer." derived from remo beamo > reamer beamer > beamer. 'cause he's so smiley!
Thanks everyone!
our burgers were delish.
And Elisabeth, I totally get Beamer, we may have to incorporate it.
