Independence

You know what’s frightening?

I’ve had to start making lists.

Lists of things I have to do, lists of things I want to do, lists of things that I did, will do, won’t do, shouldn’t do, have to do, need to do and hate to do.

Just because I’m getting married, does that mean I have to start making lists?

I feel old, keeping track of all these things I need to take care of, and you know what? A lot of it is not even wedding stuff, just stuff. John and I are trying so hard to get everything together, to be a good couple, to take care of things we don’t want to take care of (anyone interested in house-sitting Remo over Easter weekend? Thanks!), that although I feel like I’m really getting to the nitty-gritty of things, I can’t seem to find the time to do it all.

Oh TV, why do you plague me with your senseless joy? Why oh why? If I could just let you go, I could manage….

Anyway, one thing I wanted to say today is that there are certain books that just have a hard time letting go in my conscious, and one of those books that my mind keeps slipping back to, that I keep remembering on my worldly travels, is Independence Day by Richard Ford. I read it last year, one of the Pulitzer books, and it just keeps drifting back to me. It’s a very “day in the life” book, the type that usually bores me, but this…I don’t know, I think about Frank Bascombe (protagonist) quite often, wondering how he’s doing out there in the world.

Anyway, if you get a chance, I’d recommend it, again.

Also, I’m a little more than halfway in HP: Prisoner of Azsdkfslajdkban and I’m enjoying this one more, I think the Dementors are scary.

Elisabeth! Oh my gosh you are awesome. Thank you, we might take you up on that! I had forgotten that you totally know the little man. Thanks, I'll talk to John...

I'm liking it a lot, almost done actually, I saved the last little bit so I could read it all at once!
