America This Is You

Man, I’m having all kinds of underwear problems. What does that mean? Is it like having teeth fall out in dreams? Am I stressed? Am I coming into big money? Is someone close to me about die?

Is this The Secret working through me and my underwear eating butt? I think it is.

But that’s not what I wanted to talk about today, what I wanted to talk about today is way, WAY more important than my underwear.
That thing is America’s Funniest Home Videos.

When our old TiVo broke and we got our new one, we had to re-enter all of our shows, my wonderful boyfriend entered America’s Funniest Home Videos into the computer that is TiVo. He doesn’t really watch, but I watch whenever I’m waiting for 24 to tape a little more before I dive in and skip commercials, or while I’m waiting for my funny fitting underwear to dry from the laundry. AFHV is the most dramatic show on television and funnier than any sitcom ever made. But we all know this right?

But something inside me has prevented me from really watching the new ones, when I TiVo’d the show before I just had it TiVo the old Saget ones, just because that’s what showed up first or something…

But when John put it in, he put in the NEW AFHV with Tom Bergeron.
And oh my lord. What a difference.

First there is the obvious difference of a half hour Saget to an hour Bergeron. I enjoy the hour long format, because you can really stop and start it at your leisure, no need to feel like you need to get through the whole thing.

And oh my lord, Bergeron is such a better host! Poor Saget always looked so sad and embarrassed to be there, you always felt so sorry for him doing all those horrible bits. He would spurt out non-sequitors like nobody’s business. I blame the writers too, because Bergeron’s bits are short and to the point, the other guys would leave Saget up there forever, trying to make it work.

And then there’s the added beauty of the new AFHV, because now everyone has a video camera and the videos are HILARIOUS! Oh my god, they’re so freaking funny I cry sometimes from laughing.

Plus, I think I had gone through a lot a lot of the old Saget ones so I saw a lot of the same videos (which allowed me to see the marine dad have his little boy repeat his marine “calls”, it’s one of my favorites), but the new ones are all NEW and awesome.

So just in case you’re like me, and you’re still watching the old Saget AFHV’s, STOP! And start watching the new ones. Trust me, you’ll be happy you did.
