Oh man. Oh man. Oh man.
So, John and I are on dueling diets. He’s on the Atkins; I’m on the homemade Hixx diet of no fried foods, and cereal for dinner. It’s worked for me before.
Let us not forget that the Hixx hated HATED the Atkins diet. I find it to be a form of torture, shoving all that meat in your face, no bread to even it out, no chocolate…no love, even prisoners get some bread with their gruel.
John however is hanging in there and it’s fascinating to watch someone else go through this horrible exercise in animal. My poor boyfriend is ranging anywhere from completely hyper, to totally racked; he’s tired, but anxious, excited but worn out. His brain, its not really functional, I ask him something, he looks right at me….and keeps looking at me…keeps looking at me….remote in hand to change the channel…then looks at me again and asks me “what was the question?”
S’kinda funny.
However, my cereal and no fried foods diet is going famously. A little yogurt, a yummy turkey sammy for lunch (or today, a fine cheeseburger from Billy Goat) and boom! I’m finished.
And there’s a whole tin of chocolate chip cookies that’s been sitting right next to me since Monday, and I haven’t even had one.
Granted, they’re thin and crispy with miniature chocolate chips, and I like thick and chewy with BIG chocolate chips, but still.
Anyway, a friend asked what I was going to do about Vegas and my cereal diet, I mean come on, I can’t eat cereal in Vegas! He challenged me to eat whatever I wanted, but no fried foods.
Can you even get that in Vegas?

I love it! I had to revamp my diet in November for health reasons, and I lost almost 10 lbs just by cutting out fried foods, fatty foods, and coffee. Oh, and adding green tea. But I didn't think to have cereal for dinner. Brilliant!
The Atkins diet made me 300 kinds of sick. :p
Good luck to you both!
You can totally avoid fried foods in Vegas. When you go to the buffet (I still recommend Paris) eat crab legs and shrimp and prime rib and chicken (maybe this advice would be better for John) then follow it up delicious piece of french silk pie for desert. None of that stuff is fried and you'll be so full you won't need to eat for a while.
And... vodka tonics are definitely not fried.
Alright, I'll try it. I'll try it. But I can't promise anything.
And Diane, cereal for dinner rules.
The thing I love about the Vegas buffets is the salad bars. I love them, I love salad bars almost as much as I love fried things. So that might help me.
