It amazes me how much work I don’t do by doing my own work. How do people who work all day at work and still get their own work done?
Here is a rundown of my day, so you can see how difficult (read with sarcasm) my day really is:
I get to work at 8:30, I spend the first half an hour checking my emails and the next half an hour checking the blogs on my blog roll over there. >
I spend the next half hour to hour working. On work stuff.
Then I check Chicagoist and my improv message boards, to check for flame wars.
Then I re-read my own blog, because I’m hilarious.
Then I do some more work.
Then I check some other blogs and websites.
Then I do some work.
Then I go to lunch around 1:00PM
Then back in the office for some quick work and a blog post.
Then a little more work, back to the message boards and Chicagoist.
Then usually some gmail chatting going through more emails. There are hilarious emails from Chicagoist peeps and my two true emailing friends. This is what takes the most time I believe, but also the part of my day where I glean all kinds of gossip and get most of my social information.
Then sometimes I’ll check myspace, or gmail chat with someone, and then
It’s time to go home!
How do people do it? Work professionally and personally?
Luckily, I can manage to do some of my “project” work and some Chicagoist posts in there as well, which usually leaves my nights open for television.
Which is just the way it should be.
