Whew! Busy at work today, downright busy.
Anyhoo, blog entry may be late, but it’s here, and that’s something.
The move went as well as it could go. Our movers (Wolley) were great, totally busted their humps and finished in four hours. No one tried to screw us, no one tried to break anything, they were nice guys, worked hard and finished quick.
The new apartment is muy beautiful! It’s big and roomy and painted and lovely. The backyard is awesome for our dog. Just awesome.
Here are a few things I learned this weekend:
1. Carl Sandburg used to live right around the corner on Hermitage. I had no idea, noticed a historic sign on one of our Remo walks. Totally excellent.
2. Remo hops. Not jumps, which he does all the time. But he hops. Like a bunny. All around the yard. It’s the cutest thing.
3. Getting away from Wrigleyville is a wonderful thing. There’s all kinds of people in our neighborhood, tall and short, black and white and brown, churches and church bells, crazy old ladies and little kids on tricycles. It’s awesome.
4. John is a rock, a fucking rock. When all about us (meaning me) were losing their heads, John stood stock still and kept doing the next step. He was really great.
5. Eating out all the time is not ideal. Not ideal at all. Homecooked meals, here we come.
6. The Sears on Lawrence is the greatest place in existence.
7. Pop-ins from Jehova’s Witnesse friends, (yes, we do have JW friends) twice in one day, is not welcome. But what can you do? They’re god people.
So that’s it. Back to life as I know it. I welcome it.
A lot.
