Now, I’m no artist, well…I am…but I’m not a visual artist.
I know a little about art, just a tad, from what I’ve learned through architecture. Why things change and move the way they do.
I have a little more experience with “public” and “urban” art. I have some knowledge of the public art sculptures around the city, your Calders, your Roger Browns (is that his name?), the Flamingo, the Picasso, etc.
But I have decided, that my favorite piece of public art, one of my favorite things in this entire city, is the fountain in the lobby at Water Tower Place. I don’t know what to call it, it’s a fountain (I just discovered, man, who doesn’t love Google?). It was designed by Wet Design of Universal City of California. Creators of the fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas, the Mirage Hotel Volcano and the fountains in front of Navy Pier.
It is just…so cool. It’s calming, its playful, its inventive, its subtle, its outgoing.
I just love it. Go check it out again if you haven’t in awhile. It’s worth the crowds.
