Un-Labor Day

One week from today I will be on my last day of employment at my job.

Just something to ponder.

I had the most relaxing weekend. And although looking back on it, I did pretty well in terms of actually getting up and doing things, I spent more time than usual sitting outside with friends and shooting the proverbial shit.

Friday night I hung with a close lady friend of mine who is an exceptional human being. Truly, she is exceptional. Then I went and met some boys at the Town Hall for some quick beers and giggles.

Saturday I went to the gym and sat outside for most of the day on the balcony. Took a much needed nap and double dated to see 40 Year Old Virgin, which was sold out. We quicklike hopped in a cab and raced over to Pipers Alley for The Aristocrats. Which I loved so much. I’ve always been just slightly more fascinated with stand up than Improv (especially as an observer) and to watch all these comics tell the same joke over and over is really fascinating. Yes, they are all different, yes most of them are dirty, but they’re amazing, just an amazing. And made me wish for the billionth time in my life, that the Improv Comedy Club in Chicago had remained open, as to some degree, that was the most creatively challenging time in my life. Ahhh, the old days.

Sunday I went to see mom, went for my excellent bike ride, then John and I spent the day with more porch sitting, and found ourselves the best little Mexican restaurant, Jalapeno Sabroso on 3900 N. Lincoln. It was awesomely good, great service, all yummy.

We proceeded to watch Ring 2, which would have been happy to be even ¼ as good as Jalapeno Sabroso. The Ring 2 Blew.

Monday, back to the gym, then got ready for our minicheeseburger buffet. John made all kinds of mini cheeseburgers with all the fixings, we had turkey burgers and black angus and actual HAM burgers, which seemed to make John proud.

We sat some more, on the porch. Until we moved inside and sat on the couch.

Great weekend, lots of sitting and enjoying friends’ company.

And lots and lots of chocolate.
