So I went to Michigan this weekend, I rented a car all by my little self and drove the four hours to Ann Arbor. My friends have an improv theater right on the main strip of Ann Arbor (it's called Main street, can you believe it? How fascinating). The theater is big and beautiful, clean and airy, not a little dank hole like most houses of improv. There's a full bar with a sexy Russell Crowian bartender and the cutest little cocktail waitress you've ever seen. And they are committed to the place and work their tooties off, which is fun to watch no matter which employee you're into.
I got to perform with them and that was a blast, last time I did, they forgot to nail the stairs down from the stage, and I hurt meself.
They're very happy, these friends of mine and I'm just so happy for them. If you ever get a chance go to www.improvinferno.com and check it out.
The driving was amazing and frightening and I can say this now that I'm back. I have a small driving/car phobia I aquired when I lived in Colorado. We had to cross a mountain pass every day during winter and every single drive was white knuckle. Ever since then I'm a tad afraid of cars but I tend to try and let it go because I'm not in them much.
It's been a few years since I've really driven and although there is nothing I love more than 4 hours of quiet and 4 hours of talk radio, I was truly paranoid. And when I get paranoid I get spaz and you would think that switching lanes wouldn't be quite so choppy.
But I managed, I'm home and I"m not speaking to anyone (cept THE one) starting at 5:00PM until 9:00AM tomorrow morning. This does not include yelling at my video games or telling Ephram from Everwood that I love him.
