So…I went to the Encyclopedia “party” last night (man, I’m getting old) and it was fun. I didn’t get into the Chicago Trivia game, which is just way too bad, cause I think I coulda skunked it.
So during the middle section of the questions, one of the questions is “Who is the 5th mayor to come from Bridgeport”? So..Eric Zorn, who’s one of the celebrity “helpers” says “Richard M. Daley”
AND OUT WALKS RICHARD M. DALEY! It was very cool and I was not expecting it at all. I’ve never seen Daley and he is some small change alright. He was all stout and rosy cheeked. I should have known he was coming, because two minutes before he came out, all of a sudden there were tons of cameras around. And then, as quickly as they came, they were gone.
Now I know there are some issues with Daley, he’s a lot like his daddy and runs over some things to not run over other things.
But he is the epitome of Chicago and I appreciate that.
Anyway, this Encyclopedia is really beautiful. As far as I can tell (I just flipped through it a bit) it’s got everything you could ever think of in the world in it. As far as I know there’s nothing like it (they did say there is one for New Jersey, whoop de doo). And apparently is amazing in the maps and cartography (those are the same things aren’t they?).
I’ll get mine soon; just so mad I didn’t win it at the stupid thing!
